Astronomers study planets, stars, and other celestial bodies, as well as galaxies and black holes. They use telescopes that are either on the ground or in space (like the James Webb Space Telescope).
Using these and other tools, astronomers make observations and gather data. They then interpret this data to increase our knowledge about the universe, often mentoring college students or collaborating with other astronomers.
